Shrikant creates a harmony in chaos through his abstract nature landscapes. He notoriously plays with the habitual perceptions of the viewer. The works do not elude ones imagination and are accessible to ones comprehension.
Although the series exhibited are a mix of transparent and opaque wash on paper, Shrikant uses an array of mediums without bias in order to express his interpretations of nature.
Hailing from a rustic rural surrounding and an ardent traveller, his abstracts are a simplistic narration of his journey of self in nature where nothing is accidental.
In observing natural cycles from sunrise to sunset, visions of dark nights, as well as seasonal changes for the past five years he transfers his own technique onto recreating what he experiences.
Disagreeing with the common Indian outlook that ‘Anyone can do abstracts' Shrikant Kadam defends the intensity of the genre as an evolutionary process for an artist like himself. He upholds that powerful abstracts do not lack skill and technique; they are a result of a personal evolution of the artist wherein one develops a dialogic interaction with the canvas and colours. Abstracts are not easy.
One finds a symbiosis of defiance and compliance to norms within boundaries. A generous use of bright and dark colours with mysterious triangular forms that make a regular appearance, Shrikant creates depth through an inverted use of light and dark.
